Back to Woodgate ...... just needed a bit of R&R so took the caravan to Woodgate for the week-end.  We'd tested the television the week before and finally got it working with all channels available.  To cut a long story short we were trying to tune the TV into New Zealand stations ...... anyway, that's another story.

We got to Woodgate early Friday afternoon so we could enjoy happy hour with the other "nomads".  I was well stocked with Sauvignon Blanc and some sparkling wine as well as a bottle of rum and plenty of nibblies.  We were set up and ready to go in less than 20 minutes.  No tears or drama - the caravan was reversed in on the 2nd go and the awning out on the first go.  We looked like experts.  We were congratulating ourselves on how good we were and how far we'd come.

We plugged the TV in, wound up the aerial and guess what, 'NO SIGNAL'.  We could not believe it.  We tried re-programming it.  We were checking out the angle of everybody else's antennae.  Still nothing but 'NO SIGNAL'.  We tried everything ..... I don't think we are meant to get TV while we are in the caravan.  Thank goodness we took a couple of DVDs although it was "slim pickings".  I was so confident we would have TV I only took two DVDs - "As Good as it Gets" and "Eat, Pray, Love".  You can see why Steve was not overly impressed ....... but it was that or draughts again - bring on Jack!

So, instead, we took the bikes out (that's bicycles, not motorcycles) for a ride.  This was the first time we'd taken the 'pushies' with us and it was fantastic.  I wonder how many kilometres you need to ride your bike to compensate for the calories in half a bottle of wine, bikkies & dip and pizza??? No need to answer, it is a rhetorical question!

An early night and wake up to the sound of waves on the shore ..... BLISS!  How's the serenity (ha ha).  With our legs and bums recovered from the previous day's ride we rode up to the pub and back to build up our appetite and came back and cooked a delicious bacon & egg brekkie on the Webber, which, by the way we are finally mastering.  We are trainee grey nomads on a fairly big learning curve ...

On Saturday afternoon, we rode to the Woodgate Club for a look and, I must say, I really enjoyed it.  They had a TAB, bowls club, poker machines as well as a bistro with bargain basement priced lunches.  I had fish & chips & salad for $7 and it was great.  I didn't do quite so well at the pokies, nor the TAB but that's life.  As we were enjoying our afternoon at the Club we didn't realise it was raining ....... oops, we had to ride back to the caravan park in the rain.

We turned the TV back on just in case there'd been a digital miracle and we had reception but, no, still the dreaded NO SIGNAL.   It appears though it may just be that the caravan park has bad reception and it's not just us .... Julia Roberts night!  Maybe it was a bit too chick-flicky!

Why do they have 10.00am check-outs in caravan parks when people can't check-in until 2.00pm.  It's not that anybody has to vacuum the site ......... it is a bit annoying.  I think they should change the time to midday so guests can enjoy a nice sleep-in.  Maybe they figure that if there is no TV reception everybody goes to bed early so they can get up, pack and be gone by 10am .....  I guess there is method to their madness.

To our credit, we were packed up and ready to go within about half an hour - even the awning.  As it was still a bit wet and raining, we decided to enjoy our breakfast at the cafĂ© adjoining the caravan park.  It is such a convenience.  I love it - it should be compulsory in all caravan parks.

The time I normally dread, reversing the car onto the caravan was upon us.  Again, to our credit, it only took two goes and we were there.  All credit should go to Steve - I'm not sure my hand signals are improving and all my offers to reverse the car myself are ignored.

Well, another week-end under our belt and we can now plan our next trip.  With all our newfound caravanning experience, we are planning on going to the Wide Bay & Fraser Coast Camping & Lifestyle Show just to see what else we need to ensure hassle-free caravanning.  (hopefully there will be reversing cameras ha ha).
