We went back to Woodgate on the week-end. It seems like we go there a lot but it is so beautiful. However, it did rain but we are getting very used to that now. Towns in drought should invite us to visit and there is a good chance it will rain. We can rent ourselves out as "rain makers" (ha ha).
After our success last time of using both the toilet and shower we are really feeling like old hands now. We are certainly getting our glamping mojo.
We even got the caravan reversed onto the site in only two or three goes. I may not bother with the reversing camera after all. Even better, when time came to leave, we reversed the car straight back onto the tow hitch. Tip for newbies - stand right in the middle of the A-frame - it gives the driver a bigger target to aim for - perhaps I could stand on the A-frame and put my back to the car - that would certainly provide a bloody big target (ha ha).
I resurrected the Cob cooker this time around and guess what, SUCCESS! It has been years since I used it but after a refresher on you-tube I was ready to go. We enjoyed roast beef, roast potatoes, sweet potato and corn on the cob. All cooked to perfection. The only thing we were missing was the apple pie and custard. Can't wait for next time ....... especially with the cooler weather just around the corner.
Even the fishing was relatively successful with a couple of Dart caught (and thrown back of course) - I did had the roast beef to cook ........ I am never going to depend on catching fish to eat!
The water was beautiful - a slight wave and perfect temperature, no rips or jellyfish. It was absolutely superb. I can't believe how lucky we are to have such a magnificent beach right on our doorstep. Miles of beautiful sandy beach and hardly any people. No wonder we keep going there - just 45 minutes away. When I lived in Melbourne I spent more time on the Tullamarine Freeway going to or from work!
I don't want to sound like a coffee snob but it is such a shame you cannot get a good coffee there. I'm not saying I've tried every place but I have tried a few and was left feeling disappointed. I love nothing more than to sit and enjoy a nice coffee while enjoying the ocean views and I'm sure I am not the only person that wants this.
I definitely need to do some research on coffee makers for the caravan.
Now that we are becoming experts at this caravan glamping we are thinking of going a little further afield next time .... Airlie Beach! We may even do some free camping - how brave are we getting?
